The Oaks internship program aims to help raise up and equip the next generation of leaders within the church. An internship with The Oaks will provide the opportunity to gain valuable ministry experience while developing your own spiritual gifts and clarifying where God is calling you. Interns make a year long commitment to serve 15-20 hours a week within a specific ministry of The Oaks while receiving training and mentoring alongside a current staff member. Internships will begin in September and run through August. These are volunteer positions, but fundraising opportunities will be available and encouraged.
Each intern will develop a specific development plan with their ministry leader which will include three main components.
One of our key identities as Christians is that of a learner. We want this to be a time for you to grow in character, competency and conviction. During the internship experience, you will participate in general leadership development as well as ministry specific development.
You will be introduced to a "behind the scenes" look of ministry within the church. This aspect of the role will be working alongside a staff member of The Oaks within a specific ministry. This will include participation in staff meetings as well as serving on Sundays.
The internship will also stretch your creative and entrepreneurial skills. You will work with your ministry leader to pioneer a new initiative within the church that doesn't currently exist. We want to equip you to meet needs that you see in our community as well as help you develop as a leader.
There are a limited number of internship opportunities. Below is a brief description of each internship offered this year.
