Jesus told His disciples "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). Because Jesus has served us by giving His life to forgive us of our sins, we seek to live as servants of one another and to the world around us. We encourage The Oaks to seek for opportunities to meet the needs of those around them in their every day lives. Service is not simply a programmed event, but an attitude of a heart changed by Christ.
There are multiple opportunities to use the gifts that God has given you and be involved in serving at The Oaks.
Community Group Projects
Each of our community groups commit to serving those in their community through quarterly mercy projects. With the oversight of mercy deacons, each group seeks to identify a need around them and meet it together as a group. These projects vary as much as our groups do but have included serving the homeless in our community, babysitting for single moms, and fixing homes for disabled residents.
All Church Projects
A few times a year The Oaks calls all hands on deck to serve our community in a big way. Our all church projects give us an opportunity to pool together our resources and care for those that are hurting and in need in Middletown.
Sunday Service Teams
There is a ton of work that goes into our weekly services. We rely on dozens of volunteers to use their time and gifts to serve on Sunday mornings. Our Sunday service teams perform all sorts of actions that our vital to our services including setting up chairs, making coffee, greeting guests, providing childcare, playing music and cleaning up after the service. We are always in need of faithful servants to give about an hour of time every few weeks serving on our service teams. If you would be interested in serving, please e-mail email@example.com.
